CFIA Implements Canadian Wood Packaging Certification Program (CWPCP) for Export

Wood packaging is used for trade and the movement and protection of cargo. Products defined as wood packaging include pallets, dunnage, boxes, crating, packaging blocks, drums, cases, load boards, pallet collars, and skids. Pests have been known to accompany wood packaging materials and contribute to the spread of quarantined insects and plant disease. The purpose of the regulations is to eliminate this pathway for insects and plant disease.

The CWPCP is a certification organization allowing Canadian wood packaging producers and treatment facilities to build wood packaging products meeting internationally accepted phytosanitary standards. Wood packaging materials that meet the standard are uniquely stamped with a certification market identifying the certified producer.
